PRUNE HEIST
SUNNY ACHERS is a television sitcom pilot written and produced by Alex Schecter and Kelly Grago. The series follows the day to day adventures of a motley crew of elders who reside in the aptly named Sunny Achers Rest Home. The twist: the two protagonists are played by 20-somethings (Alex and Kelly) in wrinkle makeup and gray wigs.
In the pilot episode “Prune Heist,” the elders are distraught over receiving free prunes only on Thursdays. In order to cure their constant constipation, they attempt to break into the kitchen to steal the home’s supply of prunes.
IMPROVISED BEGINNINGS
The characters of Morris and Margaret (played by Schecter and Grago) were originated in improvised, sketch comedy format. As seasoned improvisers, the duo infused this off-the-cuff style of comedy into the scripted pilot above.
